Hot assembly of couplings
25-02-18
The thermal assembly of couplings is often used in the installation of heavy equipment such as large motors, compressors and rolling mills in which the couplings and shafts are usually connected by interference fit. The assembly methods of interference coupling include: press-in assembly, low temperature cold assembly and hot sleeve assembly. In the installation site, the hot sleeve assembly method is mainly adopted, because this assembly method is relatively simple and can be used for large diameter (D >1000mm) and large interference. Press-in assembly method is mainly used for light and medium static fitting, and requires mechanical equipment such as presses, so it is generally only used in manufacturers. The assembly method of cold shrinkage generally USES liquid nitrogen and so on as the cold source, and requires a certain amount of insulation container, so it can only be used when conditions are available.

Generally, hot dip heating of couplings is only used for coupling with small size (inner diameter below 100mm). The method is simple and the heating is uniform. Oxy-acetylene flame heating method for heating small parts or large parts, the method is simple, but requires more skilled technology, in order to prevent overheating and burn parts. For large couplers, it can also be used in combination with oxygen-acetylene flame heating and blowtorch heating, with good results. Although the electric heating method is a better heating method, but because of the need for special equipment, limited its use in the installation site site, but the electric induction heating method, or can be considered to choose. The electroinduction heating method used on the installation site for large and medium-sized couplings is to pass the working frequency (50Hz), low voltage and large current in the induction coil.
